Every little girl dreams of her wedding day, a
day of love and magic that will leave its imprint in her heart forever! But for
Aminat and Aishah (two sisters) they both dreamt of getting married on the
SAME DAY, thou to different men. Their dream came true when they both got married to Muhammed Basheer Babatunde and Abdulqudus Adebola Aroyehun respectively.
We head down to the ancient city of Ilorin to
bring you this beautiful carnival like wedding. Aminat and Aishah Yusuf are sisters; apart from having so
many things in common they both decided to get married on the same day. Their
wedding was much of a society wedding full of glitz and glam.
The
Meeting
Aminat and
Basheer
Their love story began after they met and were
introduce to each other by a mutual family friend; they became best of friends and
the friendship was elevated to the next level after a romantic surprise
proposal by Basheer which Aminat could not resist. And they are
fondly called AMBASH by all and
sundry.
Aishah and
Abdulqudus
They met
during one of Abdulqudus infrequent visit
to the library, where he approached her for a tee chat which she declined,
after much pestering, Aishah gave in
to his advances after discovering they have so many things in common. They
begin a sizzling romance was elevated to the next level when Abdulqudus
proposes to Aishah on her Birthday. QARRY
is their pet name.
Bridal Shower
They carnival like wedding starts with a lovely Bridal Shower on Wednesday 17th April 2013 at the brides’ sister
residence. It was attended by the brides’ friends and bridesmaids; it was the
perfect opportunity for the bridesmaid and the brides’ friend to get to know
each other and the roles they are to play in the incoming nuptial. The color of
the day was touch of orange. It was such a beautiful day as the brides to be
and their friends has a swell time at the party as the brides to be bade
farewell to single life.
Traditional
Migration
On
Thursday, 18TH April 2013; the brides’ leaves their Father’s
house and move to their paternal ancestral home…This process is called Traditional
Migration….. When they got here they were hidden from the grooms and
their families. The groom and their family member were expected to search for
the brides until they find them and when they do find them; they presented them
to the excited crowd and families. This is followed by an all night party
called “Aisun Iyawo’’.
Wolimatul-Nikkah
All this led to the Wolimatul-Nikkah on friday 19TH
April 2013, which is the Islamic Formalization of the couples union and
it was indeed a special and beautiful ceremony for the couples as their union
was blessed and solemnized in the presence of their families and close friends.
The couple holds an Afternoon party immediately after the Wolimatul-Nikkah and it was a
joyous occasion for all as the brides glowed throughout the day as they changed
their attire all through the event. All the guest couldn’t help but sway to
the melodious sound from beesco wonder as he serenaded hem with his hit songs.
The Reception
After the Wolimatul-Nikkah and the Afternoon
Party, the couples held a lavish reception on Saturday 20TH April 2013 at Nimatoni Event place; this was a splendid
and romantic day for the special couples as their friends and family turned out
in their beautiful blue and yellow Lace and Ankara Aso Ebi with matching Head gear/cap
to celebrate with them. Toyin Dollars was on the bandstand, and he churns hit
after hit from its famous music retinue as the guest enjoys their meals. It was
indeed a lovely day.
